Quality Assurance Technician - Afternoon Shift
Who we are
We are an established food manufacturer creating high-quality food solutions and custom ingredients for leading brands across North America. For more than 35 years, we have built our business by working closely with our customers to understand their needs and develop innovative, tailored products.
As we continue to grow, we are investing in our people, processes, and capabilities while maintaining a strong commitment to food safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our teams work across manufacturing, quality, research and development, and operations to deliver products our customers and consumers can trust.
Who we need
Reporting to the QA Supervisor, we are hiring a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. As our new Quality Assurance Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and food safety through analytical testing and quality checks in the lab and on the production floor. You will oversee testing from raw ingredients through in-process production and finished product sampling, verifying that products meet required specifications and working closely with the manufacturing team to maintain quality, food safety, and process standards.
This is an existing, full-time, permanent role working the afternoon shift, Monday through Friday, from 3 PM to 11 PM, with occasional overtime.
What’s in it for you
Meaningful impact. Quality and food safety are fundamental to everything we do. Your work will directly support the systems and processes that ensure products meet rigorous safety and quality standards. You will see the impact of your work every day as you help maintain product integrity and the trust our customers place in us.
Hands-on exposure. You will gain experience across the full production process, working both in the lab and on the production floor. From evaluating raw ingredients and monitoring production parameters to testing finished products, you will build a broad understanding of quality systems within a modern food manufacturing environment. You will also work closely with Production, R&D, and Quality, giving you exposure to different teams and perspectives across the operation.
Career development. You will build technical and operational experience that can create opportunities to grow your career in Quality, Production, Operations, or other areas of food manufacturing. You will join an environment where people can expand their knowledge, take on new challenges, and build on their experience as the organization continues to grow.
How you will make an impact:
- Ensure quality and compliance. You will collect, evaluate, document, and manage retain samples to maintain sample integrity and traceability. You will prepare and submit microbiological samples to external laboratories and support food safety verification programs through ATP, allergen, environmental, and water sampling.
- Verify materials and production standards. You will evaluate, test, and release raw materials to confirm they meet food safety and quality specifications before use. Throughout production, you will verify and document critical processing parameters across batching, filling, and post-pasteurization processes to ensure established requirements are consistently met.
- Perform product testing and verification. You will conduct in-process and finished product testing to support timely product release, using a range of analytical and sensory testing methods. You will also verify packaging and labelling accuracy through weight and package integrity checks, metal detector validation, and product coding verification.
- Support sanitation and food safety. You will contribute to sanitation and allergen control programs by completing post-sanitation validations, allergen swabbing, and other required verification activities. You will maintain accurate documentation and help ensure established food safety procedures are followed.
- Partner with production. You will work closely with Production, Quality, and other teams to identify and address quality concerns as they arise. You will communicate findings clearly, support investigations and corrective actions, and help maintain consistent quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
What you bring to the role:
- The experience. You have practical quality assurance experience, ideally within food, pharmaceutical, or another regulated manufacturing environment. You have gained the food science and quality knowledge needed for this role through education, training, hands-on experience, or a combination of these, and you are comfortable moving between laboratory work and the production floor.
- The technical knowledge. You can read, interpret, and apply scientific standards, measurements, processes, and test results accurately. You are familiar with quality control, laboratory and sensory testing, manufacturing processes, and the accurate measurement and interpretation of data such as temperature and weight.
- The problem-solving skills. You are curious, proactive, and attentive to the details that can affect product quality and food safety. You can recognize an issue, investigate what may be causing it, make sound decisions within your scope, and work collaboratively with others to identify practical solutions and opportunities for improvement.
- The interpersonal skills. You communicate clearly and professionally and are comfortable recording, interpreting, and reporting quality and production information. You build positive working relationships across teams, listen to different perspectives, and know how to raise concerns respectfully and clearly when quality or food safety standards may be at risk.
- The reliability and adaptability. You are organized, dependable, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities and tasks can change throughout a shift. You can manage your responsibilities independently while collaborating with the broader team, and you are available to work the afternoon shift and occasional overtime when required.
We support and care for our employees and their families.
The expected base pay range for this role is $50K-$53K.
Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
